The itsy bitsy Spider did not live in Las Vegas!
Spider bites affect people in different ways although it is more serious in the elderly and children and depending on the Spider can even result in death!
Las Vegas Valley Spiders are bigger then in other parts of the United States, our growing Cockroach and Cricket population gives these Spiders the food they need to survive. Water meters and other wet areas are perfect environments for Cockroaches and Crickets, Spiders will even live with them and pick them off one by one. Spiders are beneficial because they eat the pests that we don’t want around our homes and businesses.
Even though Spiders are beneficial they can still be dangerous and nobody wants to live with Spiders or Cockroaches! All Spiders are poisonous and they can deliver mild to very painful bites! The main species of Spiders in Las Vegas are the Black Widow, Nevada Desert Brown Spider, Jumping Spider, and Wolf Spider to name some.
House Spiders are often described as any Spider that enters your home or business and this can mean any one of the Spiders above or many other species in Nevada. Spiders can be identified by the difference in their webs and behavior, some Spiders are web building catch and wait while other Spiders are hunters and do not rely on a web to catch their prey.
Black Widows for example create hap hazard webs that have no design but are very noticeable while other House Spiders might create similar hap hazard webs but more thick. Spider webs are very strong and some are very intricate like the carefully constructed web of an Orb Weaver Spider.
